Connecticut became the sixth state on January 9, 1978. 

It was given the nickname of the The Constitution State.

Connecticut’s state motto is: “Qui Transtulit Sustinet,” which translates to “He who transplanted still sustains.”

State Flower is the Mountain Laurel.

Connecticut’s state bird is the American Robin.

Connecticut was the first state to impose a speed limit in 1901 and it was 12 MPH.

Connecticut issued the first permanent license plate on March 1, 1937.

The first dictionary was published in 1783 in Connecticut by Noah Webster.
