Recipe of the Month: Crock-Pot Hot Chocolate

Ingredients 

1/2 c. granulated sugar

1/3 c. unsweetened cocoa powder 

6 c. whole milk 

2 c. heavy cream 

2 (4-oz.) semisweet chocolate bars, chopped 

2 tsp. vanilla extract

15 jumbo marshmallows, plus more for garnish

TOTAL TIME: 2 hours 15 mins 

  1. Whisk together the sugar and cocoa powder in a 6-quart slow cooker. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly to incorporate. Whisk in the heavy cream, chopped chocolate and vanilla extract.
  2. Cover and cook on low heat, whisking occasionally, until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is hot and well combined, about 2 hours. Add the marshmallows and cook until the marshmallows begin to melt into the hot chocolate, for about 2 minutes.
  3.  Set the slow cooker to warm. Ladle the hot chocolate into serving mugs, and top with    more marshmallows.
